The S&M tribe that Riot has moonlighting as a group of artists did their worst to Vayne for Valentine’s Day. The Vampire Hunter was given her own version of the very tired stockings-and-corset costume. This will no doubt cause a flood of masturbatory spending from the 13-year-olds playing League of Legends.
I imagine the resumes in Riot’s art department are pretty short. How many different ways are there to say “I drew fantasy babes in stockings, thongs, and corsets every day.”
I’m not anti-sexy, just anti-lack-of-creativity. We’ve seen this skin one thousand million times. It isn’t interesting. At all. Not one bit. Nothing about it. Nothing. Not a single part.
I was really excited when I realized the Harrowing was coming back around. Last year’s Harrowing skins remain some of my favorite skins in the game. Zombie Ryze is one of the main reasons I enjoy playing Ryze. Lollipoppy is my favorite skin in-game to date, bar none. When I heard there was a Frankenstein Annie costume, I couldn’t wait to see the rest of the skins.
Riot put together a cute little video to show off the new attire. I’m definitely going to pick up Frankentibbers Annie, but the rest don’t really do it for me. I kinda like the Blitzcrank skin, but I already own Boom Boom Blitzcrank and Rusty Blitzcrank. The Nidalee skin looks too much like Sorceress Lux and the Nocturne skin looks an awful lot like his Frozen Terror skin.
If you played Shen or Akali this past week, you probably noticed some incredible skins in the skin selection screen for each champion. Both Shen and Akali got Blood Moon skins, which are now available from the store.
That Shen skin is definitely one of the best skins I’ve seen in this game, to the point that I hope Riot can find a way to balance him so that I see him in the game more often. I don’t really think he’s OP, but he does seem to get banned an awful lot and I can’t stand his global ult.
I like the Akali skin, though I wish she was actually wearing the mask. I’ve actually been playing Akali quite a bit, to the point that I might have snagged that skin at full price with a full mask cover.
Comments Off on Blood Moon Akali and Shen now live
As an apology for last week’s patch day downtime, Riot credited any player who had logged in over the past month with 350 free RP. It was a nice gesture, especially considering the scope. I’ve had a couple thousand RP sitting around for a while now for no real reason. This extra boost put me at a level that required a little spending, so I threw down on Leprechaun Veigar. I had yet to see it in game, but let me you, if you like Veigar even the littlest bit you should get this skin. He drops a pot of gold for god’s sake. It’s awesome.
So how are you spending your free RP? I thought about buying Apocalyptic Brand, but since I’m starting up the Champ of the Week column I probably won’t be playing him a ton. I can stand to wait a few weeks for a skin sale at least.
It was hard to tell from the Pharaoh Nidalee splash screen, but it looks like Nidalee is finally going to embrace her ethnic roots and stop bleaching her skin. Bet you weren’t expecting this kind of post for a skin announcement.
Seriously, though, for as much time as people playing LoL spend bitching about engorged female attributes, the community completely ignores the fact that every human character is white. We can’t really count Ryze because he’s blue (even his human skin looks white in game). Finally, the jungle huntress is going to be black in game if you’re willing to spend ~$8 on the skin (I’m a sucker for Nidalee skins).
Riot also released Sailor Gangplank at long last, which means Deathkni…er…Dreadknight, yeah that’s it, Dreadknight Garen is on hold for the time being. Maybe they’re giving him back his left hand.
