Buried among the April 1st madness, Riot hid Urfrider Corki, the latest skin in the League. I won’t lie, I’ll be a little sad if this is Corki’s second legendary skin. As an owner of Red Baron Corki, I would hate to see Urfrider usurp one of the original legendary skins.
Still, I have loved Corki since I first played him, and the chance to play him riding a manatee is awfully tempting.
Riot has finally posted the winners of the Urf Memorial Contest in the official forums. Each grand prize winner is being awarded 5,000 Riot Points and the “Friend of Urf” forum title, while runners up will receive 2,800 RP and the forum title, and the honorable mentions will just bask in the glory of a shiny new forum title.
Looking over the entries I’m a little sad I didn’t enter this thing. Some of them are admittedly great, but some others are pretty weak. Could you write a limerick with a thesaurus? I could.
My petty jealousy aside, congrats to the winners. That’s a lot of RP to be throwing at the Store and I wish I could say I was among your ranks. Check out the full list of winners on the official forums and be sure to give their entries a look/listen.
I think we all knew something was up when it came to Urf the Manatee. Riot was toying with us, I could just feel it. But why populate the announcements forum with so much crap about a fake hero? Enter Urf the Manatee skin for Warwick. Yes, Urf the Manatee lives on in a Warwick skin that costs 5,000 RP. Lucky for us, he’s on sale for 99 percent off – just 50 RP!
Unfortunately, today, the story of Urf Day took a tragic turn, for as Urf was swimming along, dutifully guarding the river in the Summoner’s Rift, he met with a tragic demise. Eye-witness accounts have been unreliable at best, but everyone seems to agree that just before it happened a blue streak was seen darting out of the nearby jungle. A great clamor ensued, followed by the doleful screams of a manatee done wrong. In the end, all that was left of this brave prince amongst sea cows was his skin… and even that was stolen by this most nefarious of perpetrators.
Now any good story needs a moral. So if there’s anything that the story of Urf Day and the story of the Big Bad Wolf have in common, it’s this: deep within every wolf, there is a cunning master of disguise just waiting to get out. Take Warwick, for instance; a giant, bloodthirsty werewolf able to cunningly adapt by blending into even the most innocent of surroundings. He could be anywhere at any time… behind a rock, in the brush, in the jungle, or cleverly masquerading as a lovable, spatula-wielding manatee.
Enjoy Urf Day everyone. If I can fix my internet any time soon I’ll do the same.
It seems a little early for April Fool’s jokes, so we’re going to pretend this is serious. By pretend I of course mean hope. I hope this is real. It’s a joke that’s been running around the official forums for a little while now, including the fish and spatula weapons. Without further ado, I give you Urf the Manatee.
Now, we’ve been releasing some pretty revolutionary champions lately with some pretty radical mechanics. If you thought that Ezreal, Mordekaiser, or Shen were edgy you’re in for a treat, because this next champion is borderline shocking. He really rocks the boat! Now, history teaches us that even the most peaceful and lethargic of creatures can be inspired to feats of great valor under the proper set of circumstances, and this courageous sea cow is just such a beast. Mightily armed with fish and spatula, Urf the Manatee stands ready to represent his fellow ocean borne herbivores in honorable combat on the Field of Justice.
Even if this is just a spoof toon to be released on April Fool’s Day I’ll be happy. Who doesn’t want to be a manatee? I’m actually inclined to think this is real, if only because it doesn’t make sense for Riot to pollute the announcement forums with a bunch of joke posts.
