The holiday happenings

Noxus vs. Ionia.I hope you all got to enjoy a lovely holiday (those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, anyway) and have the good fortune to slowly get back to work today. I woke up early to get caught up on all the goings on over the weekend. It was nice to spend a few days unconnected, but I always start to feel a bit panicked when I see more than a hundred emails, a slew of comments, and all the forum posts/RSS feeds I have to catch up on. I’m getting there, slowly but surely. A lot went down over the weekend so let’s get caught up, shall we.

First, we got Trundle’s official skill list. I’ll be covering that in another post today. Riot also teased what is likely the Olaf legendary skin, Brolaf.

Next up, Riot joined in the Black Friday madness by offering several champions at reduced prices and deeply discounting several skins. My personal favorite is the Grungy Nunu sale, which brought him from 975 RP down to 243. The sale goes until the end of day today so make sure you get to spend some RP.

Riot also prepped for the Noxus vs. Ionia event, for which select summoners will be representing the two nations as they aim to resolve their conflict. I think this is a pretty cool lore-based event. I’m always happy to see the game offer a limited field of champions. It definitely makes things more interesting. You can read more about the event at the official forum post. A livestream of the match will be available on December 10th.

Hextech Singed, Galio and Scuba Gragas on sale this weekend

Hell to the yeah. I’ve been waiting for a sale on Hextech Singed since the day that skin came out. There are very few skins that I’m willing to pay 975 for – Coral Reef Malphite is my most recent exception, but he’s awesome – so it’s nice to see a lot of them hit the 50 percent sale.

If you’re into Galio or Singed, those skins will run you 487 RP, while Scuba Gragas gets a 75 percent sale at 243 RP.

Skin sales have been good to me, lately

Tribal Ryze.

I’ve been waiting a while for the skin sales to finally have something I don’t already own or have no interest in owning, and it looks like it finally happened. Over the past week I was able to pick up Pharaoh Amumu and Tribal Ryze for a total less than 500 RP. It was a pretty sweet deal, and I hope it keeps coming.

I’d venture a guess that I own at least one skin for nearly all of the champions. There are a few exceptions, of course – Janna and Kassadin off the top of my head – but I like the extra bit of flair the skins add to the game. I’m also happy to throw my money at a game that I’ve enjoyed so immensely over the last 10 months or so. That said, I’ve tried not to buy any full price skins in the last three months or so. I had seen so many skins go on sale that I had already purchased that I just had to start waiting. Glad to see it has finally paid off.

Hextech Sion gets a big discount this week

Hextech Sion.

Riot’s dropping a really nice discount on the Hextech Sion skin this week, which I’ve always thought was one of the coolest skins in the game. Instead of the usual 975 RP, you can snag him for just 243 RP from Tuesday to Saturday this week.

The sale also includes Bird of Prey Anivia and Chrome Rammus, which go from 520 RP and 975 RP to 260 RP and 487 RP, respectively.

LoL: Content deluge brings more skins

New skins.Riot has been on a tear releasing new content recently. Today it announced that three new skins, originally leaked to the TR forums, are now available.

You can get Dryad Soraka, Firefighter Tristana, and Chosen Master Yi for 30 percent off through Monday. I’m in love with the Yi skin, but I have a hard time justifying even the 682 RP for a toon that I will never play. The Soraka skin is just 364 right now, so I’ll be picking that up. The Tristana skin is her legendary skin, on sale for 1274 RP through the weekend.

If Olaf is truly coming next week, as official posts seem to suggest, this will be the most active two week period of content release I’ve seen since I started playing.
