Obviously Dominion is out – personally I’d like to spend some time on the new map if everyone is up for it. I think it would be fun to get some in-house games going if possible. Hope to see you all online tonight!
In a fairly quiet release, Riot has set Dominion live on its servers. That’s right, it’s live. On a Monday, no less. Unexpected? Absolutely. Even the unexpected I was expecting would have been Tuesday morning, so today was certainly a pleasant surprise.
If you’re looking for a way to spend your Monday, consider jumping into some games of Dominion. It’s a blast.
I’m hesitant to write this post, mostly because I have a bad feeling I will be proven wrong, but I think we could actually see Dominion release this week. Dominion’s beta availability continued through this weekend, with limited hours available each day. From what I can tell, Dominion is a completed project. All that remains to be determined is whether Riot’s hardware can handle the surge in players and/or the different game modes.
There are also two quotes from Tamat on a recent rant about Dominion availability.
Beta has been successful so far, we’ll have a launch date announcement for you next week.

Expect the unexpected. All I’m going to say.
It’s the second one that really has me hopeful but also concerned. I’m concerned because we’ve heard that so many times it holds absolutely no meaning anymore. I’m hopeful because if I take that sentiment to heart, Dominion will be out this week. This week is the only week that would be unexpected. The following week is October, and that’s far from unexpected.
You may remember leaks about a champion called “Magus” from the most recent issue of PC Gamer. Riot has released his official sneak peek, which includes his official name: Xerath, the Magus Ascendant.
Here’s what little info was made available in PC Gamer:
This caster champ, a being of pure energy, perfectly captures the feeling of uncontrollable power. He charges up energy with each spellcast, temporarily increasing the damage and cost of subsequent spells. Playing him will be a tricky balancing act between knowing when to open the floodgates and pour out your damage, and when you’re better off taking the slow-and-steady route.
It sounds like all of his skills will function with the Kog’Maw/Kassadin ult-style of resource management. As each skill is cast it costs more resources but also deals out more damage. There is a lot of talk of energy in the description, though I’m honestly not sure how well that would work compared with mana system.
Keep an eye out for more information on Xerath this week. Remember, though, Riot said it would be three weeks between Riven and the patch to follow her.
Earlier this weekend Riot finally gave us some news on Winged Hussar Xin Zhao, a skin that has been in the game files for months. Some time ago a Rioter posted that the Winged Hussar skin would be part of a special promotion. Now, though, it seems he’ll be available for purchase starting tomorrow.

The language here is a little confusing, if only because of the word “legendary.” You know, the same word Riot uses to let us know when skins are going to be extra-expensive.
As far as I can tell, this skin is one of two things. Either it’s the legendary Xin Zhao skin, or it’s the launch of another skin set like the Pentakill or Crimson Elite skins. For my part, I hope it’s the latter. I’d like to think the legendary skin for Xin could be a bit better than a guy with a spear.
