Scribblenauts Leak Was Incomplete

Scribblenaut on a dinosaur.Over the weekend an intrepid hacker supposedly dug his way into the heart of 5th Cell’s Scribblenauts and dug out the complete word list. The list, which contained 22,802 words, was then leaked all over the web. It seemed everywhere I looked at least someone had a spoiler alert for the list. Well as it turns out, that list was wrong.

Speaking to Fast Company, the Scribblenauts lead designer Jeremiah Slackza said the hacker didn’t get things right. “That was leaked by a hacker who does not know anything,” he said. “It’s more than that.” Slackza also revealed the last word added to the game, “Low Rider.”

I still haven’t played the game, and I’ll admit, it’s driving me a little insane. Knowing that the word count is even higher than that already astronomical 22,802 figure is making things worse. I’m going to go play that other game where you type things in and they show up on screen.

Xbox 360 To Get 802.11n Support

Xbox 360 802.11n adapter label. It looks like Microsoft has finally decided to release an 802.11n compatible wireless adapter for the Xbox 360. Microsoft has filed for approval with the FCC, where you can see the full details on the device.

The new peripheral doubtless has something to do with the new Zune store and the ability to stream 1080p video. HD content is notorious for not playing particularly nice with slower wireless connection technologies. Microsoft also recently announced that you will be able to stream video from your Zune HD to the Xbox 360, but unfortunately the Zune’s wireless adapter is only b/g compatible, which probably means no streaming HD, but I suppose we can’t have it all.

Of course this little device is a boon for gamers, whether they’re streaming HD or not. Everyone likes to have a little extra bandwidth for those Call Of Duty sessions.

Halo 3: ODSTOST Releases Next Week

Halo 3: ODST.The release for Halo 3: ODST is quickly creeping up on us, but you may have forgotten about the soundtrack. Halo has one of the most recognizable themes in gaming today, and certainly one of the most celebrated. Bungie’s new game comes with more mood-defining melodies from composer Martin O’Donnell, the guy responsible for the entire series.

“I’m happy to be able to share all new compositions and recordings created for Halo 3: ODST,” O’Donnell said. “The music reflects the new mood, new heroes, and new story of the game. I worked with the Northwest Sinfonia for the orchestral recordings and also added some nice alto sax solos and some new guitar solos. The piano sneaks back in again a few times too, but I can’t seem to help that.”

The soundtrack will release on the 22nd along with the game.

Toys R Us Ad Shows $199.99 Wii

Toys R Us Wii ad.>Following months of speculation about price cuts for the other two consoles, it looks like Nintendo will follow suit. This pic from a Toys R Us ad shows the Wii at $199.99, a very attractive price point. Kotaku also reportedly got a look at a Walmart ad showing the same price.

This kind of deal could easily put the Wii back to the top of the sales charts. That puts the bundle, which actually includes Wii Sports, $100 cheaper than the PS3, which jumped to the top of the charts after Sony lowered its price to $299 and released a slim version.

With all of the price cuts coming so far ahead of the holiday season, it makes me wonder what sort of bundles we’ll see later this year. I’d like to think we’ll get some sort of surprise announcement about Natal, but that seems incredibly unlikely.

Fly Gabe Newell Has Raised $3,000

Gabe Newell. It started off as a simple joke. A modder from Brisbane sent an email to Gabe Newell defaming the Valve boss for not inviting the modder to play L4D2, something Newell had done for the organizers behind the L4D2 boycott. Newell and the modder, named Joe, are friends, and through a series of responses got to the point that Joe started flygabenewell.blogspot.com, a site where you could donate for Joe to purchase a ticket for Newell to Brisbane to see Joe’s latest mod.

Confused yet? Well, there were a lot of commas in there. My apologies. As it turns out, though, Joe has actually accrued enough cash to fly Newell and L4D producer Erik Johnson down to Brisbane. All we’re waiting for is Newell’s acceptance.

No matter the outcome, it’s absolutely hilarious that Joe could raise enough money to do this. If Newell declines, Joe has decided to give the money to Child’s Play, a local charity, so everybody wins in the end. For Joe’s sake, I hope Gabe goes.
