The new bundles and skins for tomorrow’s patch have been announced, and it’s looking pretty good if you ask me. The LeBlanc skins look nice, but I’m really pumped to see another Nasus skin and a cool Soraka skin, even if she is completely off the radar.

The mid-cycle skin is finally available, and it comes as part of a milestone. League of Legends is now officially one year old. I haven’t personally been a part of the LoL community for a full year – more like 10 months – but it’s definitely cool to see where the game has come from over the past year.
Oh, did I mention the Teemo skin is awesome? No? Well it is. He bounces like he’s in low gravity, plants satellite dishes for shrooms, has voiceovers that sound like he’s talking through a radio can, and shoots lasers. Yes, people. LAZERZ!
Well, happy birthday, LoL, and happy birthday Riot. I bought that skin, just for you guys.
Seriously, I don’t know if I can say enough good about the Harrowing event that Riot put together for this Halloween. This event blows everything they’ve done in the past way out of the water, so much so that I can’t wait to see what’s in store this holiday season.
If I have one criticism it’s that the new map doesn’t play often enough. I feel like I’m only seeing it 30-40 percent of the time, and I’d definitely like to see it more. It just has great character – the jack-o-lanterns, the bats, the nightly setting, the crazy saturated orange colors. It’s great. Gimme more.
The skins rock, too. My personal favorite is the Poppy skin. Her lollipop turns into a red/white candy cane pattern when Paragon of Demacia is at max stacks and, c’mon, you’re smacking people with a sucker. I also picked up Nosferatu Vlad and Zombie Ryze in the hopes that someday Ryze will be decent and I’ll have a kickass skin for him. I won’t be going for Mundo Mundo, mostly because I saw it in game and I literally didn’t notice it was different until I heard the sound his cleaver made. It’s funny, but not worth $6 or so. I also passed on the Fiddle skin because I’ve already got spectral Fiddle, and if he ever becomes worthy of a cool skin again, I’ll be going for Bandito. That might change over the next couple days. Pumpkinhead Fiddle is currently my desktop background.
In any case, awesome work, Riot. Events like this make me love you.
Riot’s gone all out for Halloween this year, bringing us a boatload of new skins to celebrate the League of Legends equivalent to our spookiest holiday, The Harrowing. Just take a look at these skins compared to, say, the Olympic skins from earlier in the year. Remember Vancouver Amumu? Team Spirit Anivia? Now look at that Poppy skin and tell me you don’t want it. Even the Ryze skin looks badass.
All told, we have the following:
– Nosferatu Vladimir
– Lollipoppy
– Zombie Ryze
– Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks
– Mundo Mundo
That’s in addition to the Sorceress and Spellthief Lux skins that will be in the store once the servers are up. I’m going to spend a lot of money today.
Since I’ve been away from my home gaming machine for nearly two weeks now, I wasn’t able to pull up the mid-cycle, unreleased skins as I have for the last several patches. They are there, though, I promise you. The real question is, why haven’t we seen them?
From what I’ve been able to find, Ezreal, Gangplank, and Twitch are all slated for some new duds this patch, and Shen and Heimer could be getting new skins next patch. I’m not sure what the delay is, though if I had to venture a guess I’d say it’s that Twitch is getting his legendary skin: Gangster Twitch. I only guess it’s his legendary because he has a tommy gun, which I’m assuming makes a different sound than his little bow. From the splash screen it also looks like he might be bipedal, which would be a really cool change.
The Ezreal skin shows up in game as Explorer Ezreal but what I’ll call Navy Gangplank doesn’t seem to be there. Could he be a prize skin, maybe for the Halloween contest?
UPDATE: The skins are now live. Navy Gangplank remains as yet unannounced.
