Annie in Wonderland coming soon

AnnieAccording to a recent ByronicHero post, it looks like Riot will be rounding out the Alice in Wonderland theme that got started with Mad Hatter Shaco by adding an Annie in Wonderland. Check the official post below:

Greetings, summoners!

A most peculiar thing happened to me today. While I was sitting in my garden indulging in a bottle of Shiraz and having a look at my copy of Don Juan, I spied a white rabbit in a waistcoat inspecting his pocket watch. Pondering this, I came to the immediate (and admittedly justified) conclusion that I must have overindulged. My suspicions were totally confirmed when the rabbit proceeded to exclaim at how late he was for a most pressing appointment.

As my befuddled rodent friend scampered off, I devised that the only reasonable thing to do was to stay put. After all, everyone knows that following a questionable white bunny only results in falling into a deep hole or an excursion to an inner city goth club filled with hackers in leather pants. Instead I decided that the operate response would be to rouse myself from my contemplative, wine-related haze by splashing some cold water on my face. Upon doing so, I felt revived and ready to face the day… that is until I spotted the enormous bear grinning back at me through the bathroom looking glass.

The moral of the story is that things are not always what they seem. Sometimes white rabbits are white rabbits, but oftentimes they are also giant, burning teddy bears dressed up as rabbits. There’s really no way of knowing until you happen upon one in the mirror while you’re trying to wake yourself up.

There are really no two ways to interpret that. Tibbers is gonna look like the giant demon bunny from Donnie Darko and the pervert contingent might finally get their teenage Annie. It’s going to be an epic day when that one launches. Expect this to be legendary in cost.

Legendary skins catch an update

Alien Invader Heimerdiner.

Alien Invader Heimerdinger was by far the most disappointing “legendary” skin to date. It was just Heimer with a different shirt and a slightly reshaped head (like the standard skin doesn’t look like a brain, anyway). I can think of plenty of things I would rather waste $20 on.

Luckily, Riot heard the community outcry around the underwhelming skin and decided it was time for an update. Now the Invader skin casts some very otherworldly turrets, which is a big step in the right direction. It makes the skin stand out as a truly unique purchase, which is what I think most people were hoping for. Firefighter Tristana also got an update. She now sprays water from the fire hose instead of bullets. Again, a nice touch.

If there’s one thing to be said for the Riot development team, it’s that they listen to the community. Sometimes we have to harass and cajole, but this change and changes like the level 30 requirement for ranked games restore some of my faith in the developer’s ability to successfully run this game.

Galio ability list

Galio.

I decided today that I’m willing to trade the minimal amount of time I spend on the Test Realm to instead leak the “confidential” information contained therein to the users here. I do think it’s important to get information on skills into the hands of players sooner rather than later so hopefully we can offer the kind of feedback that helps bring champions in line with where they should be.

So without further ado, here’s the Galio ability list!
Runic Skin (Passive)– Galio converts 60% of his total Magic Resistance into Ability Power.

Bulwark (Q) – Galio shields a friendly champion, reducing all damage suffered by that unit and converting a portion of the damage into health for himself.

Idol Of Durand (W) – Galio assumes the form of a statue, taunting nearby enemies and storing concussive energy as they attack him. Galio then bursts from his statue shell, releasing the stored energy to damage surrounding foes.

Resolute Smite (E)Galio fires a concussive blast from his eyes, slowing and dealing damage to enemies caught near the impact point.

Righteous Gust (R) – Galio claps his wings, unleashing a gust of concussive wind that damages enemies and leaves a directional draft in its wake that increases ally movement speed.

Rammus players will either rejoice or revolt at this list. You’ll notice he gets a taunt, a nice damage reduction skill, a slow, and what could be a really fun ultimate. He’s basically Rammus 2.0 without a powerball. His passive functions similar to Rammus, though it gives him a much more usable AP stack rather than the AD Rammus gets. An AOE taunt could put this guy on par with Shen for tanking. It really just depends how well his shield works and how easy it is to land a slow -> taunt/shield combo.

As you can see from his model, he is prime fodder for the recolor skins that plague new champions. Hopefully Riot will give him some cool model effects to make skins worth the cost.

Galio, the love gargoyle approaches

Galio, the gargoyle champ.Alright, his name isn’t “the love gargoyle,” but he sounds a little bit like he might try to hug you to death. Riot gave a cursory preview to this upcoming champion today with the usual limited information and disclaimers that he won’t puke on or bite anyone. He’ll be a monster. We know that, anyway.

Here’s the official post:

With this next champion we had a couple of goals in mind. For starters, we wanted to show our continued commitment to the monster enthusiasts by bringing those monstrous champions into the lineup. On the other hand, we wanted to appeal to those sensitive types who don’t identify with anything that’s capable of vomiting toxic bile, devouring its victims whole, or shaking the very ground on which it treads. We know that it’s a pretty tall order, but we’re pretty sure that Galio, the Sentinel’s Sorrow, should just be able to bridge that gap. If you’re a fan of monsters, just imagine a swooping, deadly predator perched on the edge of a building, waiting patiently to strike. And if you’re one of those artsy types who doesn’t appreciate the grotesque, well then, think of him as a piece of elegant statuary.

And here I thought monsters vomited by definition. Come on, Riot, learn your monsters. In truth, Galio sounds all right. I’m curious to see what his spell lineup will be like.

More great skins now available

Hillbilly Gragas.

I don’t know how Riot expects me to pony up the cash necessary for all these great skins. The company announced yesterday that Hillbilly Gragas, Emumu, and Deep One Kassadin are now available. We already knew about the Kassadin skin from the “community inspired skins” announcement, but those other two are just incredible. Emumu made me laugh out loud the instant I saw the splash screen.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Groovy Zilean has to be one of the coolest skins in game. I caught a game with a guy yesterday that had one. Great stuff.
