A ranked win with every champion

soraka_splash_1

I often find myself short on things to do in League of Legends. I like a ton of champions so I’m constantly switching things up, trying new builds, playing silly comps. Even that gets old eventually, which is why I’d really like to see Riot flesh out its statistics sometime, oh, in the next millenium. In the meantime, I’m working with what I’ve got, which unfortunately means ranked stats.

Even the ranked stat system is pretty slim in terms of its usefulness. I still check up on my different champions here and there, though. For instance, I recently started loving Veigar, so I’ve been pulling him into ranked on occasion. I’m currently at an 80 percent win rate (4/5) with a KDA ratio of 5.8:1.

There is one stat I would really like to round out, for no reason other than I think it would be cool. I currently have ranked wins with 65 of the 75 champions in play. My hope is to get to 75, though that likely won’t happen before next week (especially if my games keep going the way they have been), so it will probably have to be 76/76 at the earliest. The current list of champions I have yet to win with is as follows:

Alistar
Eve (really thought I did this but apparently not)
Jarvan
Karma
Karthus
Lee Sin
Maokai
Rumble
Ryze
Soraka

It’s not a bad mix of champions, though they are mostly my least favorites. I like Ryze, but he doesn’t fit a lot of comps very well. Rumble, Jarvan, Karma, Maokai, Lee Sin, and Soraka are all champions I just flat out don’t enjoy playing, which leaves me Eve, Alistar, and Karthus. I thought I had an Alistar win coming today but my team just fell apart. Our Kassadin was 0-11 and yet blaming the rest of the team.

I know a lot of you guys don’t play ranked. For those that do, how many champs have you won with?

The ‘Normal Stats’ support thread

normal-stats

I’ve been playing a lot of normal games lately and I’ve been seriously miffed at the lack of stat support for normal players. I love being able to see my K/D/A ratios for individual champions in ranked. I love looking at my total stats. Why don’t normal players get the same treatment?

Seriously, it sucks that the best I can see are my total minion kills, my takedowns (seriously, wtf is this), and total wins. I want to be able to get the same kind of data I get for ranked. I want to see my most played champions and who I’m best with. I want to know what champions need work.

I’ve made a thread in the hopes of raising Riot’s awareness on what I consider a fairly serious community issue. The stats are already being recorded, so let’s get access. You can find the thread, with an included poll, on the official forums. Get over there and vote for some normal stat goodness.

Riot starts Season One transition, stops recording wins

Nexus down.If you’ve had a chance to play this weekend, you may have noticed the lack of change in your win count. No, it’s not a bug. It’s one of the ways Riot is hoping to maintain as much uptime as possible for the changeover to Season One.

With regard to the wins, it’s an issue of stat recording. They’re revamping the internals, so you don’t keep any wins you might accrue over the weekend. Kinda sucks, but I’m not too worried about those disappearing from my stat record if I get access to a much more robust system in a few days. I do wonder, though, what kind of stats we’ll get to see for legacy games. I know those games will still be private, but will they get the full analysis package of the other games?

I’m glad to see Riot is taking precautions for uptime around the Season One launch. Here’s hoping the rest goes smoothly.

LoL: What feature are you most excited for?

French Maid NidaleeFor the most part I think LoL is in a pretty good spot. The game has at least a semblance of balance, by which I mean I feel pretty free to play a wide variety of toons to some degree of success. That said, there’s still a bit to be desired, and some features have me more interested than others.

I’m most looking forward to Season One. I could desperately use an ELO reset at this point, and having an option for ranked matches that accounts for one to two-man premades differently than four or five man will be really nice. From what the reds have said on the forums, Season One should also bring more stats to the game, which is something I’ve been dying for since my first game. The stats at lolbase.net are great, but they’re voluntary. I’d like to see something that compiles results for all of my games, regardless of whether or not I upload my logs.

I also like that I’ll have a place to goof off without worrying what it will do to my ELO. As it stands, I use a smurf account to mess around and play games with random champions and strange builds. I’d love to be able to do that on my main, which Season One should afford. I’ll screw around in normal games and save my tryharding for the ranked matches.

What are you guys most excited for?

LoL: lolbase.net

lolbase bannerI have often bemoaned LoL’s lack of comprehensive statistics. As it currently stands, you can only get detailed stats on your top 3 champions and your last 10 games, and neither are really that comprehensive. You still don’t get to see your teammates’ performance, for instance, or a numerical value for your K/D spread beyond the actual spread. You can get yourself some of the stats with a calculator, but having it all in hand would be mighty nice.

I found a post on the forums two days ago about lolbase.net, a site dedicated to providing comprehensive stats for players based on the info buried in the log files for each game. Players upload their log files to the site, which then parses them and keeps track of individual stats for every player. It’s not perfect by any means – it can’t record games either you or someone else doesn’t upload – but it’s the best solution I’ve seen so far. It was also a bit surprising to log in and find myself with almost 80 recorded matches when I haven’t done a thing.

The more I look around the site the more I hope Riot just buys them. It would be so nice to have a robust, web-based stat system to browse outside the game’s often slow and clunky interface. Until then, I’m going to start uploading some log files to get myself a nice stat list going.
