Mothership Zeta Is The Last Fallout DLC

Fallout 3.A close reading of the press information regarding the newest Fallout 3 DLC, Mothership Zeta, suggests it will be the last DLC for Bethesda’s revival of the classic. Actually, Bethesda’s website says that in plain language.

From Bethesda’s website:

We’ve released the trailer to Fallout 3’s final DLC, Mothership Zeta. Additionally, Fallout 3 Lead Artist Istvan Pely has written a team diary discussing how the DLC came to fruition. Mothership Zeta will be available Monday, August 3rd on Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live for 800 points, and will be released at a later date for PlayStation 3.

So there you have it. Of course, there is the New Vegas expansion to look forward to some time next year, though that one’s going to be released by Obsidian, and only overseen by Bethesda. Still, you aren’t quite done with Capital Wasteland yet, are you?

DJ Hero Gets Hardshell Case, Makes DJ-ing Less Cool

The DJ Hero Renegade Edition. In my little Cleveland ‘burb I’m constantly exposed to hipster wannabes. They sit on street corners by the bars most of them aren’t old enough to get into, strumming air guitars or playing air bass or even air drums. They play Girl Talk loudly through their iPod earbuds and shout to their friends, “This is my new mashup! I just have to make sure the levels are right!” I trust you can imagine the fingers moving furiously up and away and then back toward the mp3 player.

When I first saw DJ Hero I immediately thought of these kids. Now they’ll have another “instrument” to poorly imitate to their friends. And it comes in a case no less! That’s not just a hardshell guitar case photoshopped with a DJ Hero logo, that’s the game’s Renegade Edition, complete with a turntable case that doubles as a stand.

There’s still no word on pricing, but we do know that the Renegade also comes with an exclusive 2-CD set with unreleased tracks from the likes of Jay-Z and Eminem. With games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero on the decline I’ll be interested to see what sort of response Activision receives for DJ Hero. As I mentioned, I’ve got a few people in mind who will almost certainly buy a copy.

Forza 3 Drops October 27th

Forza 3 box art.Today, Microsoft announced that Forza’s latest installation, the cleverly named Forza 3 will hit US stores on October 27th. Microsoft has also laid out details for the collector’s edition, which will only be available at Gamestop.

Driving enthusiasts who purchase the Limited Collector’s Edition version of Forza 3 will be treated to ten exclusive cars, VIP status in the Forza community, a 2GB flash drive (?) and a Forza 3 branded keychain. Five of the ten “exclusive” cars are available to any VIP Forza member. The others are just for you special folks willing to drop some extra cash on the game.

If you pre-order the game you’ll also be treated to the Forza 3 design competition contest winner’s Audi R8 V10. The car was designed by Midland, Michigan fellow.

Will you be pre-ordering? Regular or Limited Collector’s Edition?

Frank O’Connor Details Halo Waypoint…Sort Of

What sort of content can you get on Halo Waypoint?Microsoft’s initial announcement of Halo Waypoint was short on details and long on promises about integrating with your “Halo lifestyle.” I don’t even know what a “Halo lifestyle” means, but I can think of a few years of my life in which I tried to find out. Former Bungie man Frank O’Connor stopped by Comic-Con to release a few details on the upcoming Waypoint.

According to Frankie, Halo Waypoint is about more than just games and videos. It’s a place for fans to get together and enjoy content. “We’re going to aggregate everything that you would want to watch from the halo universe on that site,” he said. “But it’s a lot more ambitious than that. It’s going to evolve in features and functionality to make it the prime destination for the Halo fan.”

Well thanks, Frank. That really clears things up. He goes on to say that you’ll be able to view things like old E3 trailers and potentially access new multiplayer features. To be Frank frank, Frank wasn’t very forthcoming. In fact, no one’s clear whether Silver members will have access to Waypoint in its entirety or if there will be features exclusive to Gold members.

The one thing O’Connor did actually give details for was the premier of the Halo Legends anime episodes. The episodes will be available on a “staggered schedule” over Waypoint. It won’t be quite like a television broadcast, but there will be time constraints between the initial viewing and a Blu-Ray/digital distro release.
