It looks like Microsoft has finally decided to release an 802.11n compatible wireless adapter for the Xbox 360. Microsoft has filed for approval with the FCC, where you can see the full details on the device.
The new peripheral doubtless has something to do with the new Zune store and the ability to stream 1080p video. HD content is notorious for not playing particularly nice with slower wireless connection technologies. Microsoft also recently announced that you will be able to stream video from your Zune HD to the Xbox 360, but unfortunately the Zune’s wireless adapter is only b/g compatible, which probably means no streaming HD, but I suppose we can’t have it all.
Of course this little device is a boon for gamers, whether they’re streaming HD or not. Everyone likes to have a little extra bandwidth for those Call Of Duty sessions.
