The Shyvana Spotlight is out, as is the character, giving us the first look at the latest champion to join the League. I’m not surprised to see Trinity Force show up on the recommended build for her, but I did think it was cool to see a Guinsoo’s Rageblade on her. I can’t help but wonder if that will be the optimal build, or if players will just build the typical tanky build.
It’s hard to say how I feel about her based on the spotlight alone. She seemed to be doing decent damage, but she doesn’t have any of the more conventional nuke skills. She reminds me of Skarner in that way – appears to do solid damage without any really exciting skills.
I tend to avoid characters like Shyvana, mostly because I have trouble estimating just what I’ll be able to do in a fight. In a lot of the encounters in Phreak’s video I probably would have backed away from kills that he was able to secure. I’m not sure what it is about the slow trickle of death, but it just doesn’t turn me on.
I’m hoping to get a few games with her today to see how she actually feels. Check back for more on the League’s first dragon.

rage blade is crazy on her, you can cancel an auto attack into a Q thats one ability and 3 melee swings in half a second instant 4 stacks. throw in your W to close the gap and you start any fight with 5 stacks right away.
her scaleing is like skarner she scales with EVERYTHING, which makes it a bit confuseing to make a coherent build. for instance her E scales with AP but the debuff it applies deals damage when you auto attack valueing attackspeed, her Q has significant AD scaleing but it also applies on hit effects and coolsdown from auto attacks valueing more attackspeed. her W is AD scaleing magic damage, utter madness.
shes also in need of some lifesteal or spellvamp, which doesnt come with defnesive stats.
thankfully defense is were you get a bit of leaway, as she gets free armor and magic resist, and you can jungle to make the most of defensive runes so when building defensive items you can lean HP heavy. and HP is pretty cheap.
she is highly dependant on an on hit slow, or red buff. though she does get an insane 50% move speed buff.
her jungle times just might be the fastest yet, burnout competes directly with pheonix stance for jungle speed. her ability to land 3 auto attacks in the space of one makes wriggles verry valueable.
I think she looks hella fun. Haven’t been excited for a new character in awhile.
I’m not sure what to think about her specifically (though I could HEAR you groaning when Trinity Force showed up on her build), but I have this to ask:
Who here thinks her dragon form looks frankly pretty ugly?
i actually realy like her dragon form, it reminds me of a bat, i dislike most “western” dragons they just look like dinosaurs with wings. and have you seen that iron scale skin that is so boss.
my build has stabalized after a bit of experimentation (and blatantly ripping off saint vicious) to wriggles mercury treads, wits end, warmogs, atmas, and trinity force.
most of the time phreak suggests a trinity force its actualy a bad idea, (vayne, graves, talon) so i think maybe your blowing the trinity thing out of proportion. it goes good on people who want a slow, scale well with defensive stats, and have poor ability scaleing. irelia probably being the most famous example. lately newer champions have had scaleing so good trinity is detremental to build.
Like I said, the dragon form looks like a duck and I get hungry just looking at it.
Honestly I’m going to leave this champ alone, trying to read and make sense of her skill list left me with a headache and reading fatigue, and I’m a guy who spent most of this week reading health economics and health systems structure
OMG r u serious?? The dragon form looks AMAZING!!! Looks as realistic as a dragon can be, at least her animation and walk. what do u guys want? A charizard?
