I’ve been reported enough times for a Riot investigation
I got an interesting email today, the contents of which you can find above. That’s right, I’m under investigation for potential violations of the Summoner’s Code. To say the least, I’m shocked.
I won’t deny that I rage from time to time. I absolutely do, though recently I can only think of two games in which I may have been reportable, and in both cases I was retaliating. That doesn’t make it okay, but it’s not like I’m running around verbally abusing people without provocation. Frankly, it can be tough to keep it cool when a player who is 0-11 by 15 minutes is berating his teammates for their failures to “support him.” Again, I’m not saying I’m in the right. It is just a game, and raging doesn’t do me any good (or anyone else), but sometimes my frustration comes out my fingers.
The second issue is that I haven’t really been playing that much recently. Either I’ve been reported in every one of my recent games, or action is being taken long after the complaints were originally made. I suppose it could also be that Riot has a “report threshold,” past which you get investigated, regardless of the amount time that has passed since your last report.
I’ll certainly keep you guys up to date. I think I keep a pretty level head for the most part, so I doubt too much will happen. It will be interesting to see how the League of Legends penal system works from the inside.

So reading that I would wonder if, say they did place a temporary ban on your account as a result of their investigation, whether they would even inform you of any of the complaints filed against you…. Doesn’t sound like it, but it seems like you should be informed.. at least from my perspective.
I wonder how many times I have been reported…
No temp ban, and they literally give you no details. That’s pretty much the entire email. There is a small section that has links to the summoner’s code and all that crap. It’s really strange.
Weird. I mean, I guess it’s not like you can protest if they have logs, but you’d think they would at least read the entire game chat log and consider.
Maybe someone just hates you and petitions every time they see you?
I’m sure they will take a look at logs and whatnot. The strange part to me is that they even bothered to send this without any indication of my misconduct. I don’t want to be a plague on a community, so let me know what so offended people.
I recall seeing a Riot poster mention that most reports are dealt with several *MONTHS* after they’ve been sent, because of the sheer volume of reports. It takes that long to get to them.
There’s really no way they can keep up with all that trash mail they get.
The only way I see the “report” system working with millions of players and a small office/staff is by tallying up the number of reports and once they hit a certain number, they sound out an e-mail. Keeps it democratic, self-policing, like counting votes.
More games you play, the more reports you get. That’s probably the problem. Should be divided by the number of games you play over a certain time; time period could be short, to account for “bursts” of rudeness, but then what happens when people get these emails nothing happens, and a few months later they do it again; I dunno how it works but its worth listening to. The biggest problem with this game is the rudeness from teammates in losing situations.
Me too wiggin. I was reported for a team cause I wont the match 2 weeks ago. They said I KS them -.-.
Quoting Pendragon (http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=384719&p

“We sent out Emails to the 35,000 most reported players that we were currently reviewing their reports (and we are).
It was intended to be a heads-up that we take it seriously – and that we do ban people.
It’s likely that of those 35,000 – at least several thousand will be banned for varying durations.”
In my opinion, though, you have nothing to be afraid of. If the guys at Riot are competent (and they are, you will agree), they won’t ban people on mere suspicions.
You only received the email because you were above the statistical threshold.
Report for KS … how ridiculous’s that? But i think thats not an exception it probably happens very often so no wonder they cant keep up .
They will have to change the system somehow
My idea would be that u have to write some words who match those of the one who u want to report
i wonder if that’s manageable
any other ideas ?
Nice find, Niegen, though that does make me a little bit ashamed to say I’m among the 35,000 most reported players. I must be doing something very wrong (though it could easily be numbers game, as Tekli mentioned). Makes me wonder where I fall on the ‘games played’ spectrum.
I wouldn’t worry too much about it, most of the people I know who play at any elo about 1500 got one, it comes with the area where people want to win and rage about the game when stupid players manage to sneak into the game. I know at least 20 people that have them that are top tier players. If they ban all the good players from the game, it’s their loss when the competitive edge is completely gone from the game.
Yeah I still don’t think they “investigate.” 35,000 people, and constant strings of reports. If you’ve been playing tongs of games, you’re going to rack them up unless… you’re going to be a pansy and take the verbal abuse from sadistic/narcissistic/pathetic f–ktards that pop up in the game. There are people who will use the reporting system as “payback” if you don’t sit there and take it.
I’m ashamed I haven’t gotten one yet.
New hard drive… it’s not anonymous, I just didn’t sign the above post.
I got that same E-Mail too! O_O
Funny thing is, I haven’t played in a week. Although I did play today, and someone on the other team called me a hacker for pwning with Sion. -.-;;
