My luck has officially run out

Earlier this week I was really excited to be playing ranked solo 5v5. I was making my way up the charts, thanks in part to good luck with teammates. My allies were cooperative and ready to coordinate, and chose teams that had a good mix of magic and physical damage, tankiness and crowd control. I made it from the high 1300s to 1530 in just a couple days. It was great.
That all changed at the start of the weekend. I played a few games for some Miss Fortune testing on Friday and it was loss after loss. Teammates weren’t paying attention, they were making bad champion choices, arguing about who would take middle, never bothering with dragon. I plummeted, all the way down to 1412 in something like seven straight losses, and I haven’t been able to pull myself back up.
I’ve pictured one of my most recent losses above. As you can see, my teammates were feeding early and often. Singed was 0-7 by the 18-minute mark. It wasn’t that he had a tough lane – he really didn’t – but he was running into fights he had no chance of living through. After engaging Warwick for a spell, I watched him start to run away at 200 hp just to go back in because Fling was off cooldown against a 500 hp Warwick. He died, of course, and it wasn’t the first time.
It’s strange how this game runs in streaks. I want to say that it points to a problem in the matchmaking system, but I don’t know if that’s accurate. I do think matchmaking needs to account for ELOs that drop dramatically in a short period of time. You don’t want to artificially inflate a player’s ELO so that he’s in a bracket he doesn’t belong in, but it’s also absurd that I can drop more than 100 ELO in a couple games, largely because of underskilled teammates. What if matchmaking tried to make you the lowest ELO player on a team if you lost, say, four games in a row. Losing that many games in a row is indicative of a problem with the MM system. Either a player who shouldn’t have been winning so many games was winning and he’s beyond his means, or a player is losing more games than he should, likely because the other team overmatches his own. I think the system should try to correct itself to better provide the service it’s designed to provide.

I dunno; when I first started with ranked games, I had something like a 11-2 run before having connectivity issues; thought that after that resolved, it’d pick straight back up. I don’t mind bad teammates (and we all suck every now and then), but I do expect some measure of civility. I stopped playing ranked and picked up with some great friends who were still getting their levels/slots and haven’t looked back, though I do miss the draft pick process; it was actually pretty fun, no matter the position
Welcome to my current world! I think I’m *crossfingers* slowly coming out of my worst losing streak ever. I was +30 at one point, now I’m floating around +15. It definitely seems to go in runs… although the bracket I’m in still tends to have a leaver every other game, which makes it a royal pain in the ass.
Went from +15 to +4 this weekend. I wasn’t even raging by the time I finished my 52 minute 4v5 game with Kag’Maw (19/7/16) as a finishing match for the day. Of course I was in a 4-man team (our 5th never connected).
Can’t seem to get past 1,300 rating no matter how bad or how well I play…
After hanging around 1250 for awhile I’ve had bad game after bad game. However some of the people are downright ridiculous. I picked second yesterday and said “Morg or Malphite?” of course I was told to take Morg and I was 5/0/2 somewhere around the 20 minute mark (and no one took a tank). However my bottom lane had two champs that died a combined 13 times with 1 kill to show for it (our Olaf jungler died trying to gank their lane and by the time mid went to gank, they died too). As soon as Kog left that lane and rolled up near me, guess what? I died… over and over and over and finished 6/7/8 when my team finally agreed to surrender and was derided constantly about what a bad Morg player I was (they focused me every single fight and the only thing I could do was run). Really guys you feed Kog and then tell me I suck… wow
Oh yeah my favorite is when I say I’ll run Amumu if you trade him to me only to have my team ban Amumu (but not Garen or Kog’Maw). The frustration is mounting to levels where I just don’t want to play anymore.
Anyone want to run a team of Tryndamere/Zilean/Kayle on TT just to see if we can really piss some people off? or add in Morgana & a tank for SR.
Ahahaha yes that would be a fun combo
I’d like to see Jeff in action as Tryn, but I’m not a Zil or Kayle player. I play mostly melee dps (Xin, Garen, Panth), but would be happy to play on SR sometime with that group. It’s Monday, yeah?
I keep forgetting it’s Monday. Those are my lazy days. >_< I make a decent Zil, even though he's not one of my mains. Sorry 'bout your losing streak, Jeff. It happens to the best of us.
I want to get a team and just do wacky 3v3 or 5v5 combos…not even try to win just do fun stuff like sunfire stacking or ult stacking, stun stacking, mass heals, whatever.
I’m trying to ride MF’s coattails out of ELO hell… unranked anyway. So far it’s going OK. Finally had some leavers on the enemy team for a change. Yay?
Is Zilean regarded as a great TT champ? I know Tryn is
I’m on a three game winning streak with Zilean now
